Washington, D.C. – Following Senate confirmation Wednesday of Judge Alison Nathan to the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, along with five confirmations of federal district court judges, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“We are thrilled that the Senate is continuing to prioritize swift confirmation of judges who are highly qualified, diverse, and have a deep commitment to civil rights. With the confirmation of Judge Alison Nathan, President Biden has now had 15 circuit court judges confirmed – a record for any president at this point in their term. The overall picture for federal judges is just as heartening: 56 confirmations to circuit and district courts, the most at this point in a presidency since President Kennedy. We congratulate the Biden-Harris administration, Senate Majority Leader Schumer, and Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Durbin on this landmark achievement.”
