WISCONSIN— Today, People For the American Way’s Latinos Vote! program, in partnership with Voces de la Frontera Action and Win Justice, announced its second television ad and third radio ad in Wisconsin as part of a six-figure, Spanish-language buy focused on the importance of the Latino vote to ensure a Joe Biden victory on Election Day. Early voting started in Wisconsin on October 20, and now Latino voters have additional information in Spanish to help them cast their ballots safely and securely for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and Democrats across the state.
The TV ads, “Biden and Harris” and “Accomplishments,” and the radio ads, “Conversation: Daughter and Father,” “Dolores Huerta,” and “Accomplishments,” began five weeks before Election Day. They are airing in three of the state’s major media markets – Milwaukee, Madison and Green Bay – and will run through November 3.
At least 62 million Americans have already voted early, and Wisconsin is also seeing a record number of voters, even amidst rising COVID-19 cases: The state comprises five out of the top 10 areas nationwide with the highest share of cases in the last two weeks.

According to reports, Latinos are now the fastest-growing minority group in Wisconsin. Approximately 180,000 are eligible to vote in this 2020 election cycle, representing about four percent of all eligible voters in the state – enough to turn the tide in a state Donald Trump won by fewer than 23,000 votes in 2016. This year, Latino voters will be the largest racial or ethnic minority participating in a presidential election.
“Latino voters in Wisconsin can make the difference on November 3,” said President of People For the American Way Ben Jealous. “In these last few days before the presidential election, we must do everything we can to get rid of the tyrant in the White House. In 2016, Donald Trump won in Wisconsin by a thin margin of votes and ever since, Latino families have been paying the price with family separations, higher risks of COVID 19 cases, and huge disparities in economic mobility and access to health care. Only a Biden-Harris administration will work to repair the damage done by Trump.”
“Donald Trump has been a complete failure for Latino families for nearly four years,” said People For the American Way board member, civil rights and labor leader Dolores Huerta. “Wisconsin’s Latino voters can make a difference in this election, and only Joe Biden and Kamala Harris can correct Trump’s mismanagement of all these crises he’s caused in our communities. We have to ensure that Latino voters help put an end to Trump, his racism, and his anti-Latino, anti-immigrant, anti-family policies on November 3.”
“We have to win Wisconsin to get Donald Trump out of office,” said People For the American Way Latinos Vote! and Political Director Lizet Ocampo. “We are in the final stretch of this election season, and Latino voters have a chance to restore the dignity and safety to our communities and change the trajectory of this country. We will keep mobilizing throughout Wisconsin and ensure that no Latino voter is overlooked in the most important election of our lifetimes.”
Win Justice is a dynamic coalition comprised of partners Community Change Action, SEIU, Planned Parenthood, and Color of Change, that is dedicating $30 million in four battleground states to expand the electorate by mobilizing millions of voters of color, young people, women, and union supporters, many of whom have been marginalized or ignored by traditional campaigns in the past.
