Gold Star father and People For the American Way board member Khizr Khan today announced his endorsement of Melvin Carter to be the next mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota.

As our country faces tremendous challenges, I see again and again that our best hope is in the work of passionate, principled young leaders working in cities and towns all across the nation. Melvin has shown throughout his career that he’s committed to helping families and children to succeed in our schools and beyond. He’s demonstrated an ability to bring people together to create stronger, safer communities built on a foundation of respect and integrity. That’s the best of what our country has to offer. I’m proud to give him my support.”

People For the American Way has endorsed Melvin Carter as part of its Next Up Victory Fund, designed to support progressive candidates age 40 and under for state and local office.
