Washington, D.C. -  Following today’s votes in the Senate Judiciary Committee to advance the nominations of Eunice Lee for a seat on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and Veronica Rossman for the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as three nominees to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“Circuit court nominees Eunice Lee and Veronica Rossman represent the highest ideals of public service in our justice system. Both of these outstanding judicial nominees chose to dedicate many years of their careers to service as public defenders, helping Americans without wealth and privilege navigate our legal system. The insights they have gained from that work will greatly enrich the work of the courts to which they are nominated, and we urge the Senate to confirm them swiftly. We also applaud the advancement of three highly credentialed and diverse nominees for the Western District of Washington. It is very encouraging to see the Biden-Harris administration uphold its commitment to nominating more individuals with diverse professional backgrounds to the federal bench.”
