Washington, DC — Following President Biden’s State of the Union address tonight,  People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“Tonight marked a great moment in our nation’s history as President Biden spoke about his exceptionally qualified nominee to the Supreme Court, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, the first Black woman to be nominated to our nation’s highest court. Judge Jackson is an outstanding nominee with matchless credentials. The millions who heard the president speak tonight can be proud of this nomination and we look forward to Judge Jackson’s swift confirmation. Judge Jackson’s nomination was one bright spot in a State of the Union address that, tragically, took place against the backdrop of war in Europe. Our prayers are with the people of Ukraine as they defend their country, and also with  the president as he faces so many weighty responsibilities at home and overseas.”
