Washington, DC—Today, People For the American Way announced its endorsement of Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes for U.S. Senate in 2022 with the following statement from People For President Ben Jealous:

“Today we are proud to announce our endorsement of Mandela Barnes in Wisconsin’s 2022 U.S. Senate race. Mandela has been part of the People For family for years and we have watched his political career flourish, first in the Wisconsin State Assembly and now as the state’s Lieutenant Governor. We already know that Mandela is putting in the work on this campaign–reaching out to people all across the state of Wisconsin, in every walk of life, to build a better Wisconsin and a better America for us all. With Mandela in the Senate, we look forward to seeing Wisconsin return to its roots as the home of the progressive movement, fighting for the big, bold solutions this country needs – honoring Wisconsin’s tradition as an early leader in the fight for labor rights, the first to ratify the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote, and the first to pass statewide protections for LGBTQ individuals.
