Washington, D.C. – Following the leak of a draft Supreme Court majority opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, in which there is an explicit holding that overturns the ruling in Roe v. Wade, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker released the following statement:

“This draft ruling poses the gravest possible threat to reproductive freedom and to the lives and health of millions of people – especially vulnerable communities including people of color and people without financial resources. It is important to note that in the present moment, abortion is still legal. People can still access abortion care. But if the Far Right justices on the Court ultimately choose to overrule Roe, it will not only turn the clock back 50 years on reproductive freedom, it will also open the door to overturning numerous other rights we cherish. It is clear that the country we love and the democracy we believe in are hanging in the balance. Now is the time to mobilize to make it clear we will not stand for such an abominable outcome for our country.”
