Washington, DC — In response to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s recommendation that President Joe Biden nominate to the federal bench two prominent voting rights attorneys, Myrna Perez, the director of voting rights and election programs at NYU’s Brennan Center for Justice, and Dale Ho, Voting Rights Project lead at the American Civil Liberties Union, People For the American Way Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“Myrna Perez and Dale Ho are the type of judicial nominees America needs at a time when the voting rights we hold sacred are under attack. We applaud senators who recommend judicial nominees dedicated to protecting civil and human rights for everyone and those who help confirm them to the federal bench. Our democracy and our courts are facing grave dangers so it’s important that we continue prioritizing judicial nominations to build a diverse bench of qualified, fair-minded judges committed to equal justice under the law.”
