Washington, D.C. -  Following today’s news of the untimely passing of AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“Richard Trumka was a hero to me when I was a young organizer at the AFL.  Richard Trumka was a fearless ally when I led the NAACP.  He was a giant slayer, a courageous warrior for millions of working people who need more like him. Our hearts go out to his family and to the AFL-CIO family he leaves behind. Rest in power, good brother.”
