Washington D.C. – Following Senate confirmation of the 111th federal judge nominated by President Biden, People For the American Way President Svante Myrick released the following statement:
“Some of the most important and long-lasting work of the Biden administration and Senate Democrats is in the confirmation of outstanding federal judges. We commend President Biden, Senate Majority Leader Schumer, Senate Judiciary Chair Durbin and the entire caucus on the progress we are making. It’s hard to overstate how critical this is. With the 111th confirmation of a new federal judge this week, we are on track to rebalance our courts and to have a justice system that not only looks more like America, but delivers justice in an even-handed manner at almost every level. That said, we can’t take our foot off the gas. Republicans in the Senate are still trying to block judicial confirmations through various means. We’re counting on the White House and Senate leadership to put a stop to that obstruction so people in every state have the full protection our courts should provide.”
