Washington, D.C.—  As the General Services Administration continued to delay the certification under the Presidential Transition Act that would allow the Biden-Harris transition team the resources and access needed to undertake a smooth and effective transition of power,  People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“The GSA certification is no mere formality.  It is a critical step in authorizing money, resources, and information vital to our national security to flow to the incoming administration. Foot-dragging by the GSA at this critical moment deprives incoming leadership of the ability to execute a smooth transition, and leaves us vulnerable to national security threats. And it is particularly troubling as the nation copes with the health and economic consequences of the COVID-19 epidemic.  It’s time for the GSA and for Donald Trump to stop playing games and acknowledge reality. Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have won this election, and efforts such as these to deny them the ability to serve the nation they were elected to lead will harm the American people while serving absolutely no useful purpose.”
