Washington, D.C.—Today, People For the American Way (PFAW) praised Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum for running a historic campaign for governor in Florida.

“Andrew Gillum stood up to racially charged attacks from his opponent and from the President of the United States, and he responded with class and integrity every step of the way,” PFAW President Michael Keegan said. “I have known and worked with Andrew for years, and I could not be prouder of him and his campaign for a Florida that works for everyone. We desperately need leaders like him at every level of government.”

“I congratulate Andrew for a race well-run. He has cemented himself as an important leader for his generation,” Keegan added.
