Washington, D.C.— Following Democrat John Hickenlooper’s win tonight in the election for Colorado’s U.S. Senate seat, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“Tonight, Coloradans voted to support preexisting conditions protections, end gun violence and defend our Supreme Court when they voted to elect John Hickenlooper and fire Cory Gardner. Gardner has repeatedly failed Colorado, most recently in casting a vote to confirm Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, who will likely overturn the Affordable Care Act and take away healthcare from 2.3 million Coloradans with preexisting conditions. People For the American Way was proud to work with Coloradans to help bring Gardner’s terrible record on judges to light. Hickenlooper will represent the people of Colorado in the U.S. Senate proudly.”
