Washington, D.C.— Following today’s Senate votes to confirm David Dugan and Stephen McGlynn to be federal judges in the Southern District of Illinois, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“These two judicial confirmations show that Mitch McConnell’s Senate continues to revolve around seriously misplaced priorities. If you ask the American people what they want their senators spending precious hours on right now, it’s not processing Trump’s judicial nominations: it’s dealing with the COVID pandemic, economic fallout, and burning issues of racial equity including access to the ballot this fall. And it’s especially galling that these two Illinois nominees, David Dugan and Stephen McGlynn, are so virulently opposed to reproductive rights. These individuals are the wrong choices at the wrong time for the federal bench.”
