WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following today’s vote in the Senate to reject calling for any witnesses in the Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump,  PFAW President Michael Keegan released the following statement:

“This is truly a sickening moment in our history. In choosing to bury their heads in the sand and refuse to hear critical testimony in the Trump impeachment trial, almost every Republican senator has voted to rob the American people of a fair trial while shaming themselves and the once-august body that is the United States Senate.  They are also being astonishingly short-sighted, because the facts they refuse to listen to now will come out later.  The American people will not be happy to learn just how far some of their elected representatives have gone to let a corrupt president escape accountability in the Senate, and those representatives as well as Trump himself can certainly expect to face it at the ballot box.”
