In response to President Trump’s announcement that he’s expanded his list of potential Supreme Court nominees with five additional names, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker issued the following statement:

“It’s no surprise that this list was released in the same week that Republicans have overturned a century of Senate precedent in order to ram through Donald Trump’s extreme and unqualified nominees. It’s obvious that any of these nominees, if they replaced Justice Kennedy on the Supreme Court, would demolish large portions of his legacy. Trump’s nominees all fit the same pattern: narrow-minded elitists who protect corporations and the wealthy over the rights of all Americans. Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell have been on a mission to pack our courts with jurists who will be a rubber stamp for this president; this is more of the same.”
