In response to the Supreme Court’s decision in NIFLA v. Becerra, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker issued the following statement:

“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court ensures that more women will be misled by so-called ‘crisis pregnancy centers’ designed to make it harder for women to access their constitutionally protected right to access abortion. These fake health centers, which rely in no small part on deception and dishonesty, present a real danger to women and to women’s health. But once again we see the Supreme Court twisting the Constitution in order to chip away at women’s access to reproductive health care.

“This 5-4 decision, like so many others, is the result of Mitch McConnell’s destructive, unprincipled decision to steal a Supreme Court seat that should have been filled by President Obama. Republicans have made clear that they are willing to do lasting damage to our democracy in order to push their ideological agenda at any cost. It’s up to Americans of every stripe to show up at the ballot box and make clear that they won’t let Republicans trash the Constitution and our country.”
