In response to President-elect Donald Trump’s selection of Andy Puzder as Department of Labor Secretary, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker released the following statement:

“Andy Puzder is the last person to entrust with protecting the rights of American workers. He’s yet another Trump appointee whose record stands in direct opposition to the responsibilities of the job he or she’s being handed of the cabinet department they're being handed. His nomination is an attack on working people all across the country.

“Puzder’s restaurants have an abysmal record when it comes to treating employees with respect. He lacks any qualifications to represent the interests of workers; but he has one selling point that’s obviously important to Donald Trump: Puzder was a major donor to his campaign, as were Betsy Devos, Linda McMahon, Steven Mnuchin and others. Trump hasn’t even been sworn in yet, and it’s clear the swamp he said he would drain is filling up with alligators.
