In response to the news that Senator John McCain passed away last night, People For the American Way President Michael Keegan issued the following statement.

“Our thoughts are with the friends and family of Senator John McCain. We had our disagreements, but his willingness to put principle ahead of politics at key moments showed the best of what our politics can be. No one could doubt his love for this nation and his belief in our system of government. We are grateful for his service to our country.”
