In response to President Donald Trump’s tweets attacking Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker issued the following statement:

“President Trump’s tweets are a disgusting attack not just on Dr. Blasey Ford, but on every survivor of sexual assault. The abuse and harassment that Dr. Blasey Ford is receiving right now should be reminder enough of why women don’t feel safe coming forward to speak out. This is part of a concerted campaign to bully and intimidate survivors of sexual violence in order to protect the men who have assaulted them. It’s a playbook that Donald Trump knows well.

“Republicans need to decide whether they stand with women who are speaking out against sexual violence or they stand with the bullies and misogynists. There’s no third option. It’s a question of basic decency.”
