People For the American Way launched a new radio ad today, which will run on stations in African American communities in Kentucky. The ad highlights congressional Republicans’ poor record on economic issues and calls out Senate candidate Rand Paul’s support for backward-looking policies on jobs, health care, and civil rights.

Michael B. Keegan, President of People For the American Way, said:

“Rand Paul wants to gut the American public education system by eliminating the Department of Education. He wants to cut Medicare and Social Security benefits, but wants big companies like BP to get off scot-free when they act irresponsibly. Rand Paul is clearly more interested in increasing the bottom line of big, multi-national corporations than in looking out for middle class Kentuckians. He even suggested rolling back the Civil Rights Act to allow businesses to discriminate based on race.

“Jack Conway, on the other hand, has shown that he’s ready to go to Washington to fight for the people of Kentucky with policies that will take us forward rather than pulling us back.”
