WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following today’s testimony by U.S. envoy to Ukraine William Taylor, in which he made clear his understanding that President Trump wanted to make release of military aid and a meeting with him dependent on an investigation by Ukraine of the Bidens, People For the American Way President Michael Keegan released the following statement:

“It is absolutely clear under federal law that just asking for a foreign power’s help in our elections is illegal, even if there are no strings attached. But the testimony by Mr. Taylor today was a bombshell that makes it even more clear that asking for Ukraine’s  interference was not the only offense Donald Trump and his henchmen committed. We now know that they set up an entire secret foreign pressure campaign designed to subvert our nation’s interests to serve Trump’s  political goals. Taylor’s testimony and Trump’s words themselves, along with the testimony of others the House has called, are more evidence that Trump has committed impeachable offenses and should be removed from office.”
