In response to today’s Supreme Court decision letting the Trump administration put its ban on trans people in the military into effect while it’s being challenged in court, People For the American Way Executive Vice President Marge Baker issued the following statement.

“Today’s decision by the Supreme Court is another reminder of the profound impact that courts have on the lives of ordinary Americans every single day. Removing the injunction will do real harm to trans service members who have put their lives on the line to defend our country. It revives a blatantly bigoted policy that’s based on nothing more than a tweet aimed at pandering to the President’s most extreme anti-LGBT supporters. This policy, and today’s decision, make our country less safe and less just. It’s a sad day for the Court, for our armed services and for our country.”
