Washington, DC —Following Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto’s reelection victory in Nevada, keeping control of the Senate under Democratic leadership, People For the American Way Executive Director Svante Myrick released the following statement: 

 

“The results of the Senate elections sent an unmistakable message this year: the American people strongly rejected the agenda of MAGA Republicans in favor of keeping Democratic Senate control. Remember that Senate Republicans made it clear what they wanted to do if they won: raise taxes on everyone, cut Social Security and Medicare, and ban abortion nationwide. Voters, especially young voters, came out in force to say we have a different vision: protection for our rights and freedoms and an economy that works for everyone.  We’re now looking ahead to the Georgia Senate runoff, where we’re confident voters will return Sen. Raphael Warnock to the Senate and further strengthen the Democratic majority that has been delivering results for the American people.”
