WASHINGTON, D.C.— Following the House Oversight and Reform Committee vote in favor of the D.C. statehood bill, PFAW Senior Director of Outreach and Public Engagement Diallo Brooks released the following statement:

“This is an historic moment for D.C. and for our democracy.  There is no rational argument to delay D.C. statehood any longer.  The 700,000 people who call D.C. home deserve the same right to representation as the residents of the 50 states.  People For the American Way strongly supports statehood for D.C. and we urge Congress to move forward on legislation to make it a reality.”
