WASHINGTON, D.C.— In advance of the March 8 one-year anniversary of the House passage of H.R. 1, the For the People Act, People For the American Way Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:

“The For the People Act is one of the most important pieces of legislation the House has passed and is critical to the future of our democracy.  The reforms in this bill will put our democracy back in the hands of the people instead of the moneyed special interests that have hijacked it. And that is exactly why the bill is languishing in Mitch McConnell’s legislative graveyard. This Monday, March 9, will be a Day of Action on behalf of the For the People Act, when people across the country will contact their members of Congress to demand action on this legislation. It is well past time for McConnell and his allies to pay attention.”
