Washington, D.C.— Following reports that the Trump campaign is suing to stop vote counting in both Michigan and Pennsylvania, and attempting to physically interfere with vote counting in both states, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“We always knew the Trump campaign would try to undermine the election in battleground states like Pennsylvania and Michigan if it got desperate, and that cities like Philadelphia and Detroit — with their high concentration of Black voters — would be primary targets. Let’s call this what it is: a last-ditch attempt to create doubts about an election Trump knows he is losing. We remain confident that when every vote is counted, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will win this election, despite the antics of the Trump team and their attempts to disenfranchise lawful voters.”
