Washington, DC— In response to breaking news that the Electoral College voted to affirm President-Elect Joe Biden’s election victory, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“Today’s Electoral College vote reaffirms that Joe Biden will be sworn into office on January 20th as the next President of the United States. For more than a month, this nation has endured Donald Trump’s absurd, embarrassing, and nonsensical claims of election fraud in a desperate attempt to thwart democracy. His words have been nothing short of dangerous, and, at times, bordered on seditious. No current sitting member of Congress, or those still seeking office, who played a role in the constant disruption of this democratic process is fit to lead this nation. That includes Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue who are both running for U.S. Senate in the Georgia run-offs and backed the Texas lawsuit to overturn Georgia election results. When you refuse to accept the results you refuse to accept the will of the American people.”
