Washington, D.C. – Following today’s confirmation of Biden nominees Julien Neals to the federal district court in New Jersey and Regina Rodriguez to the federal district court in Colorado, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“The confirmations of President Biden’s first two federal judges mark the beginning of the long road back to restoring balance to our federal bench. Under Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell, the federal bench was pushed to the extreme right, endangering rights for millions of us. President Biden has made a commitment to nominating individuals who are personally and professionally diverse, including those with backgrounds as advocates for civil rights and criminal justice. This commitment will widen the lens through which courts see individual cases and improve the quality of justice they deliver. We are deeply gratified to see this process under way.”
