Washington, D.C.– People For the American Way is excited to announce that People For board member and labor/civil rights icon Dolores Huerta, will campaign for Democrats including gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe in Virginia this weekend. Huerta and People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statements:

“I am thrilled to be coming to Virginia again this campaign season. Over the years it’s been my honor and pleasure to meet with our growing Latino voter constituency in the commonwealth and to support great candidates who have our communities’ interests at heart. We have worked hard to turn out Latino voters in every Virginia election for the last decade and we’ll do so again this year. Latino voters will decide this election, and I’m confident that when they do, Terry McAuliffe will be headed to the governor’s mansion and we will have great progressive leaders in the Virginia legislature,” said Dolores Huerta.

“Dolores Huerta is in a league of her own in the history of civil rights in this country. She has fought longer and harder for working people than almost anyone with us today, and nobody cares more passionately about the future of the Latino community. It’s a privilege to have her coming to Virginia this weekend to help mobilize voters in a critically important election. All eyes will be on Virginia this November 3 and Latino voters will play a huge role in setting the narrative about what happens here,” said Ben Jealous.

Dolores Huerta will be in Virginia Thursday, October 28 – Monday, November 1. FOR INTERVIEWS CONTACT: Kawana Lloyd, 240-472-2860, [email protected], or Laurie Kinney, [email protected]
