Washington, D.C. –  Following today’s House vote to strip far-right extremist Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) of committee assignments, which was opposed by a majority of House Republicans,  People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“We commend House Democrats for taking a stand against the toxic influence of QAnon, virulent racism, and delusional MAGA conspiracy theories. At the same time, we believe there must be no tolerance in the Congress for a member who has endorsed violence against her own congressional colleagues as well as a whole range of deeply offensive and unsubstantiated beliefs. It’s clear that the House must move to the next step of expelling Marjorie Taylor Greene from its ranks.  As Maya Angelou famously said, ‘When someone shows you who they are, believe them.’  Greene and her remaining defenders in the House have shown us that repeatedly;  the House must not now let them stand in the way of accomplishing the people’s business.”
