“I have known Ilhan Omar for years, as a member of People For the American Way’s Young Elected Officials network and as a treasured colleague and a dear friend.  Congresswoman Omar embodies the best of the American dream: a Black, Muslim immigrant woman who came to this country and dedicated herself to serving her community and our democracy. House Republicans under Kevin McCarthy are targeting her for one reason: racist bigotry. It’s disgusting, and voters are not going to forget it.”
