Washington, D.C. –  Following the U.S. House’s delivery to the Senate of the latest Article of Impeachment against Donald Trump, People For the American Way President Ben Jealous released the following statement:

“With this Article of Impeachment, the House has rightly charged Donald Trump with one of the most egregious betrayals imaginable for a president of the United States: inciting a mob to a violent insurrection aimed at halting certification of an election he lost.  His terrifying goal was clear: to subvert our democracy and overturn a free and fair election.  And the evidence is indisputable, because he did this in full view of the public and of the rioters who freely admit they acted as they did because of him. There is no question that Trump must be held accountable in the Senate for his actions. No other outcome is acceptable if we hope to build and sustain a healthy democracy.”
