WASHINGTON, D.C.— In response to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s decision to file cloture on five more federal judicial nominations today, immediately after concluding the sham impeachment trial of Donald Trump, PFAW Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:

“It took mere minutes after engineering a shameful cover-up in Donald Trump’s impeachment trial for Mitch McConnell to turn back to ramming Trump’s judicial nominees through the Senate. But this is a Senate and a president who have shown us they have no business confirming judges to lifetime seats on the federal bench. Trump and his Senate enablers do not care about justice, the rule of law, or the rights of the people. They only care about power, and will use the courts and judicial nominees to hang onto it at any cost just as they have abused their authority on every other front. Voters will remember that in November.”
