WASHINGTON, D.C.— In response to Donald Trump’s decision to nominate Justin Walker to a seat on the D.C. Circuit court, PFAW Executive Vice President for Policy and Program Marge Baker released the following statement:

“Justin Walker would be wholly unsuitable and unqualified for one of our nation’s highest appellate courts at any time, but his nomination is especially egregious now in the middle of a national public health crisis. Walker is an anti-government zealot at a time when lives depend on the government being able to act. He is deeply opposed to the Affordable Care Act and accessible health care. He lauded a dissent by Brett Kavanaugh, when Kavanaugh was on the D.C. Circuit, for providing a ‘road map’ to do away with the ACA. Walker’s hostility to affordable and accessible health care, combined with the power he would have as a judge on one of our most influential federal courts, is a potentially deadly combination in the midst of the current pandemic and shows yet again how little this administration actually cares about the well-being of millions of Americans.”
